Toxics Program
The U.S. Geological Survey Toxic Substances Hydrology (Toxics) Program investigates the fate and occurrence of agricultural chemicals. Toxics Program agricultural chemical investigations focus on characterizing the processes that affect dispersal of chemicals in the atmosphere, ground water, and surface water; identifying persistent degradation products; and developing methods to measure these compounds in water samples at environmentally relevant concentrations. Government regulators, pesticide manufacturers, farmers, water resource managers, and the public are using the results of these investigations.

Midcontinent Agricultural Chemical Research Project (Research on Pesticides in the Environment)
The U.S. Geological Survey's Midcontinent Agricultural Chemical Research Project (MACRP is studying the occurrence, movement, flux, fate, and effects of agricultural chemicals in parts of 25 States.

National Water Quality Assessment Program
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) began its NAWQA (National Water Quality Assessment) program in 1991, systematically collecting chemical, biological, and physical water quality data from 42 study units (basins) across the nation. The data warehouse currently contains and links the following data up through 9/30/2002:

• Chemical concentrations in water, bed sediment, and aquatic organism tissues for about 500 chemical constituents



• Site, basin, well and network characteristics with many descriptive variables



• Daily stream flow information for fixed sampling sites



• Ground water levels for sampled wells



• 6,100 surface water sites and 7,000 wells



• 46,000 nutrient samples and 31,000 pesticide samples as well as 11,000 VOC samples



• 3,200 samples of bed sediment and aquatic organism tissues

Pest Management Expertise Database
Database of pest management experts from land grant institutions, grower organizations, NGO’s and environmental institutes. Enables individuals seeking information about current pest management practices consult with and create partnerships with appropriate IPM experts.

Bayer Codes for Pests
A searchable database allowing users to search for Bayer codes, common names or scientific names.

Crop Profiles
Crop Profiles are descriptions of crop production and pest management practices compiled on a state basis for specific commodities. They are searchable by crop, state, or keyword.

Pest Management Strategic Plans
Pest Management Strategic Plans are developed by growers, commodity associations, land-grant specialists, food processors, crop consultants, and EPA. These plans address pest management needs and priorities for individual commodities.

Crop Map
Database of county crop statistics emphasizing how many acres of a specific crop are grown in a county.

USDA NASS Crop Production Reports.
Database of annual production reports describing how much of a commodity is produced by state.

USDA / ERS Agricultural Resources and Environmental Indicators (AREI) Database and Mapping Tool
Allows users to generate maps that graphically represent selected agricultural data.

USDA / NRCS National Resources Inventory
General information on trends in the quality of soil, water and related resources. Also contains information on how air quality is affected by agricultural practices and how growers can utilize alternative nutrient management schemes.

IR-4 New Products/Transitional Solution List – August 2006
This list contains brief descriptions of numerous new pest control materials that have been introduced over the last several years. It also contains information on some “older” crop protection chemicals that are believed to have potential for new uses. Potential grantees can use this list to learn more about new reduced risk products and then determine if they are appropriate for their project.

NASS Pesticide Use Data
Searchable database showing the annual amount of pesticide used per crop and per state.

NASS Agricultural Chemical Usage Reports
Contains reports that include state level data on chemical applications and acres treated for field crops and selected fruit and vegetable crops.

National Center for Food and Agricultural Policy (NCFAP) Pesticide Use Data
Provides information on how much of a pesticide’s active ingredient was applied per state and per commodity.

Pesticide Data Program (PDP)
Contains data files and summary reports on pesticide residues on agricultural commodities, especially on commodities consumed by infants and children.

FQPA Pesticide Database
Contains a list of pesticides required for review under FQPA. Also contains an active ingredient/brand-name converter for FQPA pesticides (although this wasn’t operational as of May 19, 2004).

Tennessee Valley Authority
Provides documentation on ecological indicators and how they’re used to determine air quality and particularly water quality.

NRCS National Agricultural Pesticide Environmental Risk Analysis (NAPRA)
Shows how a pesticide risk indicator can be used to determine the environmental impact of pesticide applications.

Windows Pesticide Screening Tool (WIN-PST)
A risk screening program that allows individuals to evaluate how their pesticide application impacts the environment (from USDA NRCS).

Extension Toxicology Network (EXTOXNET)
Site provides a searchable database of toxicological and chemical parameter data for active ingredients found in commonly used pesticides.

North Carolina State University Water Quality Group WATERSHEDSS System
Watershed-level, web-based decision support system called WATERSHEDSS (WATER, Soil, and Hydrologic Decision Support System) allows users to conduct a preliminary watershed evaluation in order to determine appropriate best management practices (BMPs). Covers diverse topics on water quality, monitoring, land treatment, watershed management, and watershed projects. Also provides a searchable database of over 6,000 annotated articles on NPS pollution control.

EPA Office of Children’s Health Protection
Links to America’s Children and the Environment: A First View of Available Measures. This report details efforts at measuring environmental factors that may affect the health and well-being of children. Provides a good discussion of identifying and developing appropriate measures that reflect environmental factors.

Conservation Technology Information Center (CTIC) EQIP Database
CTIC site that allows members to search for EQIP practices and payments. Practices approved under the Pest Management standard can be accessed for free.

Center for Integrated Pest Management (CIPM)
CIPM is affiliated with the National Science Foundation and maintains links to numerous science-based pest management information databases (with descriptions). The CIPM web page includes links to 10 international databases and 30 national databases with some regional and local information as well.

Pacific Northwest Pollution Prevention Resource Center (PPRC)
This site is a source of preliminary information regarding pollution prevention options and technologies. While the site mainly emphasizes industrial pollution preventing techniques, some agricultural related techniques are discussed. In addition, this site maintains a searchable grant database.

IPM Collaborative Research Support Program (CRSP)
CRSP coordinates global research on IPM among more than 20 U.S. and foreign institutions on horticultural export crops as well as other food production systems. In 2003, CRSP decided it needed to increase its outreach and communication efforts. It now sends periodic PDF files featuring its projects to a huge list of subscribers.
