American
Farmland Trust commissioned Dr. J. Dixon Esseks to conduct a
two-phase telephone survey of 2,213 voters nationwide. Households
were contacted through random digit dialing. A random sample
of this type is likely to yield a margin of sampling error of
plus or minus 2.3 percentage points in 95 out of 100 cases.
We completed 1,024 calls between June 2 though June 21, 2001
to produce the National Pubic Opinion Poll summary. We then
completed 1,189 additional calls between June 21 and July 2,
2001 so we could report regional results for seven of eight
regions. Because of funding and time constraints, we did not
complete enough calls in the Central Plains region to summarize
the results (includes: Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North
Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota). The Tarrance Group, Inc.
provided consulting and analytical services.
